Dart Chapter 3 of 15
Control Flow
Make decisions with if, else and switch, repeat work with loops, and control exactly when a loop stops or skips.
Until now your programs ran every line from top to bottom. Control flow lets a program choose between paths and repeat steps, which is where it starts to feel like real programming.
Lessons in this chapter
- if, else if and else in DartLearn conditional statements in Dart: if, else if, else, nested conditions and if-case, with clear examples and common mistakes.
- The Ternary Operator in Dart (condition ? a : b)Use Dart's ternary operator to choose between two values in a single expression, and know when an if statement reads better.
- switch and case in DartLearn the switch statement in Dart: matching values, shared cases, default, guards with when, and how Dart 3 removed the need for break.
- Loops in Dart: for, for-in, while and do-whileRepeat code in Dart with for, for-in, while and do-while loops and forEach. Learn which loop to pick and how to avoid infinite loops.
- break and continue in DartUse break to leave a loop early and continue to skip one round. Includes labels for controlling nested loops in Dart.
- assert in Dart: Catching Mistakes During DevelopmentLearn how assert statements work in Dart, when they run, and how to use them to catch programming mistakes early.
